This policy sets out how Racing and Wagering Western Australia provides wagering responsibly. For practical tools and support, see our Responsible Gambling page.
1. Our commitment
We are committed to minimising gambling-related harm. Betting is entertainment, not a way to make money, and we provide clear information and effective control tools to help customers stay within their means.
2. Codes we follow
We operate under the Western Australian Responsible Wagering Code of Practice and the National Consumer Protection Framework for online wagering, and we comply with our licence conditions and applicable law.
3. Player tools
Customers can set deposit, loss and wager limits, activity statements and reality checks, take a break (cool-off), and close their account. Tighter limits take effect immediately; loosening a limit is subject to a cool-down. Details are on our Responsible Gambling page.
4. Messaging & advertising
Our advertising carries the required consistent gambling messaging and support call-to-action, rotated as required. Consistent with Western Australian law, we do not offer inducements — such as bonuses, free bets or deposit matches — to open an account or to keep betting.
5. Self-exclusion
You can self-exclude from all licensed Australian online and phone wagering services through BetStop — the National Self-Exclusion Register — at betstop.gov.au or by calling 1800 238 786. We honour self-exclusions and do not target excluded customers with marketing.
6. Staff training
Relevant staff receive responsible-gambling training and we keep records of that training, so our team can recognise and respond to signs of harm.
7. Protecting minors
You must be 18 or over to hold an account. We verify age and identity, and it is an offence to bet on behalf of a minor. We support the use of parental control software on shared devices.
8. Support services
Free and confidential support is available 24/7 from Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858 or at gamblinghelponline.org.au. In a crisis, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
9. Review
We review this policy regularly and update it to reflect changes in law, our licence and best practice.
